Prosecutors have decided that no proceedings will be brought against a 34-year-old Iranian man following an incident at Faslane naval base. The decision was confirmed by the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service.
Arrests and Incident
The man from Iran and a 31-year-old woman from Romania were arrested after the incident on March 19. The Royal Navy previously said that two people unsuccessfully tried to enter the base.
Prosecution Decision
The Crown Office stated: “The procurator fiscal received a report relating to a 34-year-old man and an incident said to have occurred on March 19 2026.”
“After careful consideration of the facts and circumstances of the case, including the available admissible evidence, the procurator fiscal decided that there should be no proceedings taken at this time.”
The statement added: “The Crown reserves the right to proceed in the future should further evidence become available.”
Base Significance
Faslane, formally known as HM Naval Base Clyde, is home to the UK’s nuclear deterrent. The Royal Navy’s Astute-class attack submarines are also based there.
