Greater Manchester Police have launched a murder investigation after a 40-year-old man died from stab wounds sustained in Failsworth last month. Steven Dossett was attacked on Hale Lane on June 19 in what police described as a 'shocking' incident. He was taken to hospital but succumbed to his injuries on July 4.
Police Appeal for Witnesses and Footage
Detectives from GMP's Major Incident Team are leading the inquiry and have issued an urgent appeal for CCTV, dashcam, and mobile phone footage from the area. Witnesses are also urged to come forward. A substantial police cordon remained in place into the following day as forensic examinations were carried out.
Arrests and Bail
Four men and one woman, aged between 17 and 45, were previously arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and assault. They have been released on bail pending further enquiries.
Family Devastated
Steven Dossett's family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. Detective Chief Inspector Anna Barker, Senior Investigating Officer, said: 'This was a shocking attack, which has now evolved into a murder investigation following the death of Steven last week. His family are being supported by specialist officers at this time, and we are keeping them updated as our work continues at pace. While we have made several arrests, we are still appealing for information and would urge anyone who witnessed anything of significance, or has any information relating to this incident, to please contact us. Even the smallest of detail may assist our enquiries.'
