Mum-of-one found dead in bed as police hunt killer

Detectives are hunting a man believed to be from the Middle East over the brutal death of American-born mother Jamey Carney, 43, in Killarney, County Kerry, Ireland. Her body was discovered at her home on Homeland Estate, Muckross Road, after her 13-year-old daughter raised the alarm.

Murder Inquiry Launched

Gardai are set to launch a murder inquiry as sources say there is no doubt she was murdered. The suspect, an asylum seeker in his 20s known to Ms Carney, previously lived in France and has been in Ireland since mid-2024. He occasionally stayed at her house and is now the subject of a major search.

Details of the Attack

Ms Carney was found dead in her bed with her body hidden under a duvet. She suffered serious head injuries from a brutal attack, believed to have occurred late Monday night or early Tuesday morning. An argument was heard in the house late Monday. Her body lay undiscovered for up to 13 hours.
