British Transport Police have launched a manhunt after a 17-year-old girl was raped at Guildford railway station in Surrey. The attack occurred on Monday, January 19, 2025, at approximately 7pm, when a stranger approached the teenager and her friends as they walked to the station.
How the attack unfolded
The man initially tried to make the victim board a train with him, but she refused. He then asked her to have sex with him, which she also declined. After the group left the station building, the man separated the girl from her friends and raped her. The victim managed to escape and run back to her friends, who were waiting outside the station entrance.
Police appeal for help
Detectives have released CCTV images from the station in a bid to identify the suspect. Detective Sergeant Nick Thompson of British Transport Police said: 'The person responsible for this horrific crime targeted a vulnerable victim who was just 17 years old at the time of the attack. Specialist officers continue to support her and her family as we follow all lines of enquiry as part of our ongoing investigation.'
Thompson added: 'We understand that this incident will cause concern among the local community and I am appealing to them directly to help us identify the man in these images. He may have vital information that could assist our investigation, so if you recognise him, please get in touch as soon as possible.'
Ongoing investigation
British Transport Police are urging anyone with information to come forward. The investigation remains active, with officers following all available leads. The local community has been reassured that specialist support is being provided to the victim and her family.
