A man has died after being found in a Northumberland town with serious head injuries. Emergency services were called to Cawledge View in Alnwick shortly before 8am on Saturday following a report of concern for a person.
The man, in his 50s, was found with serious injuries to his head and was taken to Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital in Cramlington for treatment. He died the following day.
Police treat death as unexplained
Northumbria Police are treating the man's death as unexplained. Officers remain in the area and are investigating the circumstances of how he sustained his injuries.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "Shortly before 8am on Saturday (October 3) we received a report of concern for the welfare of a person on Cawledge View in Alnwick, Northumberland. Emergency services attended the scene and a man in his 50s was found with serious injuries to his head."
Appeal for information
The spokesperson added: "He was taken to hospital for treatment of his injuries but despite the efforts of medical staff he sadly died in hospital on Sunday. His next of kin are aware of his death."
"We are currently treating the man's death as unexplained and are carrying out a number of enquiries to ascertain the circumstances of how he came to sustain his injuries. Officers remain in the area to carry out enquiries in relation to our investigation."

A North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) spokesperson added: "We were called to an incident in Alnwick, Northumberland at 7:42am on Saturday 3 October. We dispatched one ambulance crew and one patient was taken to Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital."
