Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a man found dead on the shore of the Marine Lake in West Kirby is believed to have entered the water in North Wales. Emergency services were called to the area at around 3.50pm on Tuesday, September 15.
Discovery at the Marine Lake
Merseyside Police attended the lake, which extends into the River Dee, and found the man dead on the rocks of the outer edge. It was unclear how long he had been there, and the death was being treated as unexplained, they said. The spokesperson added that enquiries were ongoing to identify him and notify his next of kin.
In an update this afternoon, North Wales Police announced its detectives are appealing for anyone with information about the case to come forward.
Entry point near Flint Castle
It is believed the man entered the water around the Flint Castle area, over 20 miles away from West Kirby, during the evening of Monday, September 14. He is described as an Asian male, around 5ft 10in in height and of a medium build.
Detective Chief Inspector Richard Griffith said: “We are aware from CCTV enquiries there were several people walking, cycling and driving around the area of Flint Castle at the time.”
Appeal for information
“I am particularly keen to speak to anyone who saw the man between 6pm and 9.30pm on Monday, 14 September. He was an Asian male, described to be around 5ft 10in tall and of a medium build. He was wearing a black sweatshirt, ripped blue jeans, black trainers, and possibly in possession of a crossbody bag.”
“I’m also appealing to anyone who might have any pictures, videos or dashcam around the castle between these times to contact us. Your information or images could be crucial in assisting our investigation. My thoughts remain with the man’s family at this difficult time.”
