Man dies, second in hospital after falling ill in Fife

Emergency crews raced to Pilgrims Way Avenue in Cardenden, Fife, on Thursday afternoon after two men fell ill. One man was pronounced dead at the scene, and a second was taken to hospital.

Police Respond to Incident

Police Scotland and the Scottish Ambulance Service were called to the property at around 3pm on Thursday, 13 August, 2026. The first man was sadly pronounced dead upon arrival, and his death is being treated as unexplained.

The second man was taken to Victoria Hospital to be checked over and was later allowed home.

Enquiries Ongoing

Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 3.05pm on Thursday, 13 August, 2026 police were called to a report of two men having taken unwell in Pilgrims Way Avenue, Cardenden. Emergency services attended and one man was pronounced dead at the scene. The second man was taken to Victoria Hospital to be checked over and was later discharged. The death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
