A 44-year-old man has been charged with murder following the death of North East woman Leanne Park.
Emergency services were called to a property in Parkgate, Darlington, at about 9.15pm on Wednesday, September 23. The 44-year-old, now known to be Leanne Park, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Charged and remanded in custody
Andrew Bell, of Darlington, has been charged with murder and remanded in police custody. He will appear at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court on Monday, September 28.
A 27-year-old man arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has been released on bail.
Investigation ongoing
An investigation is ongoing and crime scene investigators are continuing to work at the scene. A police cordon is expected to remain in place for some time.
The family of Leanne Park, who are being supported by specialist family liaison officers, said: "We love her so much and miss her more than words can describe. We are completely devastated. Her death has ripped the heart out of our family."
