A 36-year-old man has been charged following a murder investigation after a 57-year-old man who was found unresponsive in a street died in hospital.
Graham Milliken, from Dundonald, was found injured and unresponsive in the Main Street area of the town at 4.05am on Sunday. He was taken to Crosshouse Hospital for treatment, where he died a short time later.
Police treat death as murder
Police Scotland said his family have been informed. The death is being treated as murder, and the 36-year-old man is due to appear before Ayr Sheriff Court on Tuesday.
Officers remain in the area carrying out inquiries, checking CCTV and speaking to local residents to establish the circumstances surrounding the death.

Detective Inspector Jamie Carruth of Police Scotland said: “Officers are in the area carrying out inquiries, checking CCTV and speaking to local residents in an effort to establish the circumstances surrounding the death.
“However, we are still keen to hear from anyone who may have information that would assist our investigation.
“We would be interested to hear from anyone who may have dash-cam or doorbell footage, or anyone who may have heard a disturbance in the area that night to contact us.
“Officers remain in the area and anyone with any information or concerns can approach them.”
