A man has been charged following an alleged stabbing in Swansea that left another man seriously injured. South Wales Police were called to the incident alongside paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance Service early on Thursday, August 13 morning on St Helens Road in the Sandfields area of the city.
Charges and injuries
A 40-year-old man is being treated in hospital with a significant injury, police have confirmed. Craig Godfrey, 36, from Waun Wen has been charged with possession of a Sharpe blade in a public place and section 18 wounding with intent.
A South Wales Police spokesperson said: "Officers attended St. Helen’s Road, Swansea at around 6.47am (Thursday, August 13) following a report of a serious assault."
Police statement
The spokesperson added: "A 36-year-old man from Waun Wen, Swansea has been arrested on suspicion of Section 18 wounding with intent. He is currently in police custody."
"A 40-year-old man from Waun Wen, Swansea has been taken to hospital with a significant injury."

Both men are understood to be known to each other. An investigation into this incident is currently ongoing.
