The owner of the Hind Hotel in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, has appeared in court over alleged health and safety breaches following the death of Olly Marmon, the fiancé of X Factor star Jaymi Hensley.
Olly, 33, died on August 11, 2024, after falling from a third-floor window at the hotel. He was staying there with Hensley, a member of the band Union J, when the incident occurred. Emergency services were called at 11:30pm, but Olly was pronounced dead at the scene.
Charges Filed
Marcus de Lannoy Holden, 57, of Shennington, Banbury, Oxfordshire, appeared at Northampton Magistrates' Court last month. He faces charges including failing to ensure that windows were safe to open, contravening an improvement notice by not conducting a risk assessment on all windows, and failing to ensure employee health and safety. The charges were brought by North Northamptonshire Council.
Holden entered no plea and was granted bail to seek legal advice. The case was adjourned until October.
Background
Hensley, who was 33 at the time, was arrested on suspicion of murder but later released with no further action. An inquest heard that Olly died from head injuries, and the case was opened and adjourned.
Before the tragedy, the couple had been excited about their upcoming wedding. In a social media post, Jaymi wrote: "14 years together and 1 year until 'I do'. I love you irrevocably and so excited that in 365 days we will finally be Mr&Mr." Olly also posted: "Best week with my man and nine weeks and counting until we say I do!"
Following his death, Olly's family paid tribute, describing him as "beautiful both inside and out."
