Family pays tribute to cyclist killed in Chester crash

A family has paid tribute to a "much-loved" man who died in a crash in Chester. Lee Stallwood, 32, was pronounced dead at the scene after a collision involving a cyclist and a silver Toyota Yaris on Hoole Bridge at around 3:50 a.m. on Thursday, May 21.

Tribute from family

In a statement issued by Cheshire Police, Mr. Stallwood's family said: "Lee was tragically taken on the 21st of May 2026. He was a much-loved son, grandson, brother, uncle, and friend whose kindness, warmth and sense of humour touched the lives of many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Lee will be gone but will never be forgotten. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever. We as a family need time and space to grieve for Lee. Rest in peace, Lee Stallwood."

Charges filed

Detectives investigating the crash have charged Nathan Howe, 32, of Thorndale Road, Sunderland, with causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop after a road accident, and failing to report an accident. Howe was arrested on Thursday, May 21, and has been bailed to appear at Chester Crown Court on Friday, June 19. A 35-year-old man from Sunderland was also arrested in connection with the incident and has been released on bail.
