A man and a woman have been charged with the murder of an eight-week-old baby in Lincolnshire. Police were called to an address in Bourne on October 31, 2023, after the infant was found unresponsive. The baby was rushed to hospital but sadly died.
Charges Filed After Complex Investigation
Following a large-scale and complex investigation, Lincolnshire Police charged 26-year-old Liam Neve, of Spinney Close, Grimoldby, Louth, and 26-year-old Lauren Murgatroyd, of Novak Place, Morecambe, Lancashire. Both are charged with murder, making a false statement concerning birth, causing or allowing the death of a child, and other offences.
Detective Chief Inspector Andy McWatt of the Major Crime Unit said: "Our thoughts are first and foremost with those impacted by this deeply devastating case. We have continued to investigate this tragic death since 2023. This has been a complex and large-scale investigation, and we are now in a position to charge two individuals in connection with the incident."

Liam Neve faces charges of murder, making a false statement concerning birth, causing or allowing the death of a child, two counts of actual bodily harm (ABH), two counts of Section 18 grievous bodily harm (GBH), and two counts of causing or allowing a child to suffer serious physical harm.
Lauren Murgatroyd is charged with murder, making a false statement concerning birth, causing or allowing the death of a child, two counts of Section 18 GBH, and two counts of causing or allowing a child to suffer serious physical harm.
Court Appearance
Both defendants are scheduled to appear at Lincoln Magistrates' Court on June 24. DCI McWatt added: "We recognise the deep distress this incident has caused and remain committed to seeking justice in memory of the baby who so tragically lost their life."
