Coronation Street fans believe they have uncovered a major twist involving Maria Connor. Maria (played by Samia Longchambon) has been a fixture on the ITV soap since 2000 and is currently embroiled in the investigation surrounding Theo Silverton's murder. She gave her husband, Gary Windass, a false alibi for the night of the killing.
Gary's Suspicious Behaviour
Gary, named as an official suspect, has been acting oddly around his former girlfriend, Sarah Platt. The ex-couple have been seen whispering about the night of Theo's death, with family members noticing a change in their behaviour. On Monday, Maria caught Gary and Sarah hugging on the street. Gary told Sarah to delete all messages from their phones as Maria watched with growing mistrust.
Maria's Suspicions
At the salon, Maria confided in Fiz Dobbs and Izzy Armstrong about her fears that Gary is having an affair. When asked for evidence, Maria said Gary seemed distant and she saw them together but something felt off. She checked his phone but found nothing. Fiz advised her to talk to him. Maria then questioned Todd Grimshaw about Sarah and Gary's behaviour, but Todd dismissed it, citing Sarah's trauma from an attack.
Fans' Murder Theory
As Maria investigates Gary, some fans have turned their attention to her. They suspect Maria may be projecting her anger onto Gary because she is actually Theo's killer. One fan wrote on Facebook: "So we're getting close to finding out who murdered Theo," listing suspects. Another added: "Maria. What if she knows Gary isn't involved because she actually did it?" Others called it the "best plot twist ever" and "insane."
Coronation Street airs weekday nights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
