Co-op Academy Manchester has been placed on lockdown after a serious incident left three people with knife wounds. Emergency services responded swiftly to the scene on Plant Hill Road this morning.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed that a schoolgirl has been taken into custody, although her age has not been disclosed. The three injured individuals are believed to have sustained knife wounds, but police have stated that the injuries are not considered serious at this time.
A police spokesperson said: "Three people have been injured, however injuries aren't believed to be serious at this time. Emergency services remain on scene and we are supporting the school. There is not believed to be any wider threat to the pupils and staff in the school."
Emergency Response
Photographs from the scene show a significant emergency services presence, including police and ambulance vehicles at the school gates and within the grounds. A helicopter was also seen circling overhead. Parents reported that the school is under lockdown conditions.
