CCTV released after Ring doorbell covered in burglary try

Greater Manchester Police have issued a CCTV image of a man they wish to speak to following an attempted burglary in Rusholme. The incident occurred on Wednesday, June 10, at around 5:50am on Parkside Road.

What happened

According to police, an unknown man approached the front door of a property and rang the victim's doorbell before trying the door handle. When he realised it was a Ring doorbell camera, he covered the lens, causing it to glitch. He then attempted the handle again but left the area once the camera resumed normal operation.

Police appeal

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "Officers are appealing for information relating to an attempted burglary in Rusholme. An unknown man approached the front door of a property on Parkside Road at around 5:50am on Wednesday, June 10, and proceeded to ring the victim's doorbell before trying her door handle. Once he realised it was a Ring doorbell, he covered the camera, which caused it to glitch and proceeded to try the handle again. When the camera stopped glitching, he had left the property."

The force has released a CCTV image of a man who may have important information. Officers would like to speak to him as they believe he can assist in their enquiries. Anyone who recognises the man or has any information is urged to contact police on 101, quoting reference number CRI/06A2/0016857/26.
