Brentwood Schoolboy Dies; Two Arrested for Murder

A 12-year-old boy who died following a collision in Brentwood, Essex, has been named as Bobby Bloomfield. His family said that 'no words can ever explain how we are feeling' after losing him.

Incident Details

The tragedy occurred on Sunday evening in the Ashwells Road area of Pilgrims Hatch, near Brentwood. Police were called shortly before 5:40pm and found Bobby with serious injuries. He was rushed to hospital but died a short time later.

Arrests Made

Two individuals from Pilgrims Hatch, a 15-year-old boy and a 43-year-old man, have been arrested on suspicion of murder. They remained in custody throughout Monday as investigations continue. Essex Police have formally named Bobby as the victim.

Family and School Tributes

In a statement, Bobby's family expressed their devastation: 'Losing a child is every parent's nightmare. We are living that nightmare, and no words can ever explain how we are feeling. Bobby brought light and life into all our lives, and we have lost that forever.'

Bobby was a student at Shenfield High School. A school spokesperson said: 'We are extremely saddened to learn about the death of one of our pupils. This has come as a shock to us all, and we send our deepest condolences to the family. We are supporting our pupils, staff and wider school community.'

Community Mourns

Floral tributes, candles, and notes have been left at the scene in Ashwells Road. One note read: 'Greatly loved by everyone and you will be greatly missed always and forever.' Another said the youngster would be 'forever missed.' Online tributes have also poured in.

Police Investigation

DCI Louise Metcalfe of Essex Police's serious crime unit stated that detectives believe this was an isolated incident with no ongoing risk to the community. She urged local residents to review any CCTV footage from between 8am and 7pm on Sunday and report it via the force's public portal.
