The body of a 15-year-old boy has been recovered from the water at Clifton Country Park in Swinton, Greater Manchester, after he got into difficulty on Saturday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the park at 4:51 pm on Saturday following reports that a teenager was in trouble in the water. Underwater search teams located the boy's body on Monday, according to Greater Manchester Police.
Search and Recovery Operation
The search operation involved multiple agencies, including police, fire, and ambulance services. Specialist underwater search teams were deployed to scour the lake at Clifton Country Park, a popular spot for families during hot weather.
A police spokesperson said: "Sadly, a body was recovered from the water on Monday. Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the boy at this difficult time."
Safety Warnings Amid Heatwave
The incident comes as the UK experiences a heatwave, with temperatures soaring across the region. Authorities have urged the public to enjoy the hot weather safely, particularly when swimming or spending time near water.
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service has issued advice about the dangers of open water, including cold water shock, hidden currents, and underwater obstacles. They recommend swimming only at lifeguarded beaches and designated swimming areas.
An investigation into the circumstances of the incident is ongoing, but police have said there are no suspicious circumstances.
