A 56-year-old man has pleaded guilty to offences linked to the rape of a woman who was drugged by her husband for more than 20 years. Karl Lindsay, of Wordsworth Drive in Taunton, entered the pleas at Minshull Street Crown Court on Friday, October 30.
Guilty Pleas and Remand
Lindsay admitted two offences committed between January 2015 and October 2025, relating to the rape of the woman. He also pleaded guilty to the administration of substances in order to stupefy the woman for the purposes of engaging in sexual acts.
He was remanded in custody and told he would be sentenced at the conclusion of a trial in the case.
Husband's Previous Guilty Pleas
The woman's husband, a man in his 60s from Stockport, previously pleaded guilty to 60 charges relating to the single complainant. His admissions included counts of rape; assault by penetration; administering a substance with intent; sexual assault; attempted rape; and sharing intimate photographs or film.
The Manchester Evening News and other media organisations are not naming the husband in order to protect the anonymity of his wife. The law entitles her to anonymity for life as the victim of sexual offences. The woman and a relative were watching in court as Lindsay entered his pleas.
