Devon and Cornwall Police have confirmed that a murder investigation has been launched following the death of former MP and MEP Ann Widdecombe. The 78-year-old was found dead with serious injuries at her home in Dartmoor on Thursday morning.
Police Press Conference Scheduled
The force will hold a press conference in Exeter at 4.30pm on Friday afternoon to provide updates on the investigation. Police have stated that the inquiry is moving 'at a significant pace' and a manhunt has been launched for a white male suspect.

Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood has urged the public not to speculate, describing the circumstances as “extremely distressing”. Ms Widdecombe, a former prisons minister for the Conservatives, later served as a Brexit Party MEP and a Reform UK spokeswoman. She also gained fame outside politics after appearing on Strictly Come Dancing.
