Former England striker Andy Carroll has been charged with breaching a non-molestation order and is due to appear in court on Tuesday, 30 December.
Carroll, 36, of Epping, was arrested on 27 April after allegedly committing an offence the previous month. The charge relates to an incident in March this year, Essex police confirmed.
The former Newcastle and Liverpool forward, who has also played for West Ham, Reading and West Brom, currently plays for National League South club Dagenham & Redbridge, which he joined in July after spells in France with Amiens and Bordeaux.
A non-molestation order is a court injunction typically intended to stop an individual from contacting another person. Punishments for breaching the order can range from a fine to up to five years in prison.
