16 Children Found in 'House of Evil' in Ohio, Four Family Members Charged
16 Kids Found in Ohio 'House of Evil,' Four Charged

Sixteen children, aged 1.5 to 18, were rescued from a home in Hamden, Ohio, described as a 'house of evil' by officials. The children were found in deplorable conditions and in urgent need of medical care, with two flown to trauma centers.

Arrests and Charges

Four adults have been charged with 16 counts of felony child endangerment each. The suspects are Gary Siders Sr., 73; Christina Siders, 67; Gary Siders II, 36; and Elizabeth Siders, 33. They pleaded not guilty and were given a $300,000 bond each. Prosecutors say the case is an 'intra-family situation,' not human trafficking.

Conditions and Rescue

Ohio Attorney General Andy Wilson said the children lived in 'conditions you cannot even imagine.' Vinton County Sheriff Ryan Cain noted that the house contained human feces and the children were confined to a small area. 'Most of our livestock is kept in better condition than the children,' Cain said.

Wilson described the scene as the most horrific he had seen in his career, calling it 'pure evil.' He added that some children could not speak. The investigation had been ongoing for some time, leading to the search warrant executed on Tuesday.

Medical Needs and Response

Two children were flown to level one trauma centers due to serious injuries. The children were not in school, and the eldest, an 18-year-old, is considered developmentally a minor. Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine expressed heartbreak over the conditions and medical needs of the children.

A second search warrant was executed at the property, and the investigation continues. 'Justice will be served for these children,' Wilson stated.
