Complex Investigation Underway

Detective Inspector Claire Rimmer described the investigation as "complex" and stated that a "significant number of inquiries" will be carried out by the force. She urged the public not to speculate on the case, as it could undermine evidence and affect the investigation.

Rimmer said: “As part of our investigation we need to complete a significant number of inquiries. While these are happening, we have released the two people who were arrested on bail, with conditions. This is a complex investigation and I ask people not to speculate around the facts as it could lead to evidence being undermined and affect our investigation, which I know no-one would wish for. The most important people in this investigation are two children, who have a right to anonymity and the best care anyone can give.”

Children Remain in Hospital

The force's statement read: "Officers attended an address on Dennis Estate, Kirton on Wednesday 8 July following concerns for the welfare of children at the address. Two children, aged 1 and 2 years, were taken to hospital for medical treatment and remain at hospital at this stage. Two people, a woman aged 23 and a man aged 25 were arrested on suspicion of neglect. They have been bailed with conditions while our investigation is ongoing."

The investigation is ongoing, and police have not released further details about the condition of the toddlers.
