An 11-year-old girl who died after being discovered in water at a Scottish beauty spot has been identified as Faith Curran. She passed away following an incident at the Gore Glen area, close to Gorebridge in Midlothian.
Discovery and Response
Relatives reported Faith missing at approximately 12:40pm on Thursday, August 6, 2026. Her body was located in the Gore Water near Shanks Bridge at around 4:25pm. She was pronounced dead at the scene, and her family has been informed.
Police Scotland stated that the death is being treated as unexplained. Investigations are ongoing, and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.

Faith's family described her as a "happy, adventurous, and outgoing girl who enjoyed life." They expressed gratitude to those who helped in the search efforts. A cordon remains in place around the woodland park, with officers guarding the area. A single bouquet of flowers was left at the side of the bridge as a tribute.
Tributes have poured in from friends, neighbours, and the local community. One loved one posted online: "My darling girl you were amazing. I am in shock. Thoughts are with your family."
