Adam Johnson, 26, of Hempstead Close, and Kylie Smith, 25, of Holly Bank Street, both in St Helens, have been charged in connection with the death of their one-year-old son, Maero Johnson.
Charges and Court Appearance
The couple face charges of causing/allowing the death of a child, child neglect, and possession of a controlled class B drug, cannabis. They are due to appear at Liverpool Magistrates Court on Thursday, August 13.
Incident Details
Merseyside Police were called just after midnight on August 23, 2023, after the infant was taken to hospital, where he died despite medical efforts. A Home Office postmortem examination confirmed Maero died of ketonic hypoglycaemia and severe malnutrition.
