Eighteen years after Madeleine McCann's disappearance, her twin siblings Sean and Amelie have forged their own paths while keeping their sister's memory alive. The family still marks Madeleine's birthday each year, and the twins have made a touching promise to continue searching for her.
Sean, now a talented swimmer, aims to compete for Team GB at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. He won a gold medal at a Mediterranean open water swimming competition earlier this year and is targeting the 2026 Commonwealth Games for Scotland. His training regimen includes early morning sessions since age 11 and three weekly gym visits.
Amelie has also excelled in sports, participating in cross-country and triathlon events while studying at a university in northern England. Their mother Kate has said the twins have 'grown up essentially without Madeleine but knowing their sister is missing and they want her back.'
The twins are set to appear at Leicester Crown Court for the trial of Julie Wandelt, who is accused of stalking the McCann family after claiming to be Madeleine. Despite the ongoing ordeal, Kate has shared that the twins give her strength, recalling Amelie's words: 'Mummy's sad because Madeleine is not here. But Amelie is here, and Amelie and Sean will always be here.'
