Convicted murderer Joe Storey, 32, has been moved to the high-security HMP Frankland in Durham after allegations emerged of an improper relationship with a female prison guard, Tammie Daplyn. Daplyn, 48, was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in a public office after reportedly sending text messages to friends in which she fantasised about leaving her husband for Storey. In one message, she allegedly wrote: "I f*****g love that man."
Transfer to Notorious Prison
Storey, who is serving a 24-year sentence for the murder of his former partner Kerri McAuley, was initially placed in solitary confinement at HMP Whitemoor in Cambridgeshire. However, prison chiefs decided to transfer him to HMP Frankland, a facility known as "Monster Mansion" due to its housing of some of Britain's most notorious criminals, including serial killer Levi Bellfield and former police officer Wayne Couzens. The prison was also where Soham murderer Ian Huntley was attacked in February 2026.
Insider Reveals Prisoner's Reaction
An inside source told The Sun that Storey was "furious" about the relocation. The source said: "There's just no way he could stay at Whitemoor. This is the jail system's way of getting its own back." The source added that there is no suggestion of a physical affair between Daplyn and Storey, but the guard has been suspended from her duties and remains under investigation.
Background of the Case
Storey was jailed in 2017 for the brutal murder of Kerri McAuley, a 32-year-old mother of two, whom he battered to death inside her Norwich flat. Cambridgeshire Police confirmed that a 48-year-old woman (Daplyn) has been arrested on suspicion of misconduct in a public office in connection with the case.
