A woman who vanished without a trace from her Arizona home 32 years ago has been found alive, authorities announced this week. Christina Marie Plante was 13 years old when she was reported missing in May 1994 from Star Valley.
According to the Gila County Sheriff's Office, Plante was last seen leaving her home on foot to go to the stable where her horse was kept, and was never seen again. Her disappearance prompted extensive searches involving local law enforcement, volunteers, and regional resources, but no viable leads were developed at the time.
Over the years, investigators periodically revisited the case, re-examining evidence and pursuing new information. The creation of the Cold Case Unit marked a renewed commitment to unresolved investigations, and advances in technology and modern investigative techniques eventually led to a breakthrough.
The sheriff's office confirmed on Wednesday that Plante had been located alive, and her identity and status as a missing person have been officially resolved. Out of respect for her privacy and well-being, additional details will not be released at this time.
