A woman who disappeared without a trace from her Arizona community 32 years ago has been found alive, authorities announced this week. Christina Marie Plante was 13 years old when she went missing from Star Valley in May 1994.
According to the Gila County Sheriff's Office, Plante was last seen leaving her home on foot to go to the stable where her horse was kept. Despite extensive ground searches, interviews, and investigative follow-up at the time, no viable leads were developed.
The case remained open, with investigators periodically revisiting evidence and pursuing new information. The creation of the sheriff's office Cold Case Unit marked a renewed commitment to unresolved investigations, utilising advances in technology and modern investigative techniques.
Detectives developed new leads that ultimately led to a breakthrough, and Plante was located alive. Her identity has been confirmed, and her status as a missing person has been officially resolved.
