Girl, 3, dies after getting head stuck in toy kitchen

A three-year-old girl has died after becoming trapped in a toy kitchen playset at a babysitter's home in Boynton Beach, Florida. The child, identified as Briella, was found unresponsive with her head stuck inside the playset on the morning of July 23.

Incident and response

Officers from the Boynton Beach Police Department arrived at the scene and immediately began life-saving measures. Boynton Beach Fire Rescue then transported the child to a local hospital in critical condition. Four days later, she was pronounced dead.

The preliminary investigation found that Briella and her sibling were at the babysitter's home when the incident happened. The babysitter left the house, leaving the children in the care of their spouse. The spouse remained upstairs while the children played downstairs, periodically checking on them and giving them snacks.

Discovery and family reaction

During one of these checks, the spouse found the child stuck in the playset, removed her, and began life-saving measures until first responders arrived. The toddler's sibling told investigators that toys had fallen into the playset, and Briella got stuck while trying to retrieve them.

Briella's family described her as "a bright light in the lives of so many," with "a kind heart, a beautiful spirit, and a smile that could light up any room." They said she "touched countless lives with her love, laughter, and compassion."

Investigation and support

No charges have been filed, and the investigation remains ongoing. Following her death, her loved ones set up a GoFundMe to help with funeral and memorial expenses, stating: "On July 27, our hearts were shattered by the unexpected loss of our beloved Briella following a tragic accident."
