A nine-year-old girl has died after being found seriously injured at an industrial estate in Arbroath. Emergency services were called to Elliot Industrial Estate at 12.02am on Monday, August 3, following reports of a child with serious injuries.
The girl was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, where she later died. Police have confirmed her death is being treated as suspicious, and a 35-year-old white British man has been arrested in connection with the incident.
Investigation ongoing
Inquiries into the circumstances of the girl's death are ongoing, but police have stated they are not looking for anyone else in relation to the incident. The girl's family, who are from West Yorkshire and were camping in the area at the time, are being supported by specialist officers.
Images from the scene show a significant police investigation, including a blue forensic tent erected on a grassy verge, a large cordon stretching across the grass, pavement and road, and uniformed officers standing guard. Forensic officers were also seen examining the area and a car parked nearby.

Detective Superintendent Nicky McGovern said: “Around 12.02am on Monday, 3 August, 2026, officers were called to Elliot Industrial Estate in Arbroath after a nine-year-old girl was found with serious injuries. She was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, where she later died.”
“A 35-year-old man has been arrested in connection with her death, which is being treated as suspicious. Her family are being supported by specialist officers as inquiries continue.”
Detective Inspector Mike Ness of the Major Investigation Team added: “Our thoughts remain with those affected by these events.
