A Polish woman who claimed to be Madeleine McCann has shared an update after DNA tests proved she is not the missing British girl. Julia Wandelt, also known as Julia Faustyna and Julia Wendell, made headlines last year when she alleged she was the three-year-old who vanished from a Portuguese resort in 2007.
Wandelt appeared on the Dr Phil show to await DNA test results that would determine her birthplace. However, her representative and psychic medium, Dr Fia Johansson, told Radar Online in 2023 that the results showed Wandelt is 'absolutely 100 percent from Poland', with small percentages of Lithuanian and Russian ancestry.
Wandelt has claimed she reached out to Madeleine's parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, for a DNA test but received no response. She also said that the two people believed to be her parents have refused to take a test, as they 'know I'm their child'. In an Instagram Stories Q&A on 26 November, she stated that all relatives have refused a DNA test.
The Metropolitan Police has spent £13.2 million investigating the Madeleine McCann case as of March 2024. Madeleine was last seen sleeping in an apartment at the Praia da Luz resort in Portugal while her parents dined nearby.
