The family of a pizza chef who was fatally stabbed in Sheffield have released a tribute on the second anniversary of his murder, as police renew their appeal for information.
Carlo Giannini, 34, was found dead in Manor Fields Park in the early hours of 12 May 2022. A murder investigation was launched, and four knives were recovered from the scene, but no one has ever been charged.
In a statement, his family said: 'We live that 12 May every day, remembering what happened. No one had the right to kill a young man with many dreams and a great passion for his work.' They described him as a beloved friend, son and brother, and added: 'It saddens his family that someone must know what happened and does not help to find the culprit.'
South Yorkshire Police said six people were interviewed—five on suspicion of murder and one on suspicion of assisting an offender. Thousands of hours of CCTV footage were reviewed, but Detective Chief Inspector Becky Hodgman, the lead investigator, said evidence was 'scant' and the case remains unsolved.
'Officers have worked tirelessly over the last two years on this large-scale murder investigation,' she said. 'Carlo's family and I believe that somebody has information that could be crucial in moving this case forward.' She urged anyone with information to contact the police.
