An attempted murder investigation has been launched after an incident in the early hours of Thursday in Newport left two men in hospital.
Police and paramedics were called to Baird Close in the Malpas area at around 12.40am. Two men, aged 20 and 25, were taken to hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.
Arrests made
A 23-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman, both from Newport, have been arrested. The man is held on suspicion of attempted murder and the woman on suspicion of assisting an offender.
Forensic investigation units remain at the scene on Thursday afternoon as enquiries continue.
A Gwent Police spokesperson said: "We received a report of an assault in Baird Close, Newport, at around 12.40am on Thursday, July 23.
"Officers attended along with paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance Service. Two men, aged 20 and 25, were taken to hospital for treatment.
"A 23-year-old man from Newport was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, while a 22-year-old woman, also from Newport, was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
