Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is due to give evidence in court on Wednesday via video link, after being granted permission to appear remotely. The appearance comes in the trial of Alex Jenkinson, who has been charged with two counts of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to harass or cause alarm or distress. One of the charges is understood to relate to Andrew.

Jenkinson previously appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court by video link, where he pleaded not guilty to both charges. The trial is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, July 29, with Andrew expected to give evidence from a remote location. The alleged incident took place in May while the Duke was walking his dogs near his home at Marsh Farm on the Sandringham Estate. He was accompanied by one of his private security officers at the time.
Background
The Duke stepped back from royal duties in 2019 and was stripped of his honorary military affiliations and royal patronages in 2022. He is expected to appear only to give his evidence before the trial continues. Months earlier, Andrew was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office, taken into police custody for an interview, and released the same day under investigation. That investigation is still ongoing. Andrew has kept a low profile since the Epstein files scandals and has consistently denied wrongdoing.
