Love Island star Adam Collard was allegedly attacked by his father, William Collard, following a dispute over the ownership of a cottage in Northumberland. The incident, which occurred on September 5 last year, left the reality TV star with a ripped shirt and reddening to his neck, Newcastle Magistrates' Court heard in April.
Details of the Alleged Assault
William Collard, known as Billy, 56, lives at Horsley Banks Farm in Horsley, Northumberland. Prosecutors stated that Adam is the registered owner of one of the cottages on the land, but his father disputed this claim. The alleged assault took place when Adam arrived at the property with police to have the locks changed.
Rehana Haque, prosecuting, said: "The victim is the son of the defendant. It is a charge of assault by beating. The background is that there appears to be a dispute over ownership of a property. The victim bought a cottage from the defendant's wife some time in 2023."
She added: "On September 5, the victim attended the address with the police to have the locks changed on the property. The defendant had allegedly parked his car across the front door, preventing access. The victim has attempted to barge the door and the defendant has allegedly grabbed the victim and pulled him back, causing a ripped shirt and reddening to his neck."
Court Proceedings
William Collard appeared at Newcastle Magistrates' Court in April, where he pleaded not guilty to one count of assault by beating. His defense lawyer, Jack Lovell, stated that Collard was acting in self-defense. Lovell also noted: "There are some financial legal issues also involved here."
Collard was released on unconditional bail and is scheduled to appear for trial at the same court on August 7.
