South Wales Police renewed their appeal on Thursday, saying Charlene's family remain "desperate for answers" as the investigation continues.
Last sighting and CCTV footage
A mobile phone photograph taken at 6.07am on the morning of her disappearance, at a property in Broadway, Adamsdown, remains the last confirmed sighting of Charlene. The day before, July 23, she was captured on CCTV at Morrisons Local in Adamsdown. At the time, she had her hair in a bun and was wearing a dark, strapless top, with a distinctive dragon tattoo clearly visible on her back.
Reward and appeal
Police said a £20,000 reward, offered through the independent charity Crimestoppers, is available again for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible. The reward is being offered for information given exclusively to Crimestoppers that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for Charlene's murder. Information given directly to the police will not qualify for the reward.
In a statement, South Wales Police said: "It's two years today since the last sighting of Charlene Hobbs. Charlene, from Cardiff, is a mother, a sister, a daughter, and a friend to many. Like us, they are desperate for answers."
Investigation progress
Officers say the investigation has involved speaking to hundreds of people and visiting hundreds of properties across Cardiff. In January 2025, specialist search teams also carried out extensive searches of parkland at Moorland Gardens in Splott as part of the ongoing inquiry. Despite those enquiries, detectives say they still need members of the public to come forward with information.
The investigation was upgraded to a murder inquiry in June last year. It followed criticism from Charlene's family, who said her disappearance was not treated with sufficient urgency when she was first reported missing. Her cousin, Dean Hobbs, previously said Charlene was reported missing three times over a six-week period before a formal missing person investigation was launched. South Wales Police has acknowledged the family's concerns and previously confirmed it was reviewing whether its initial response to reports of Charlene's disappearance was appropriate.

Anyone with information about Charlene Hobbs' disappearance is urged to contact South Wales Police or Crimestoppers anonymously. Detectives say that no matter how insignificant a detail may seem, it could prove crucial in helping to establish what happened to Charlene and provide long-awaited answers for her family.
