Police are offering a £20,000 reward for information on a missing mother who is believed to have been murdered. South Wales Police has renewed its appeal for information on Charlene Hobbs, who disappeared in Cardiff in 2024.
Last sighting and CCTV footage
The last confirmed sighting of Charlene was a mobile phone photograph taken at 6.07am on July 24, 2024, at a property in Broadway, Adamsdown. The day before, she was captured on CCTV at Morrisons Local in Adamsdown, wearing a dark, strapless top with her hair in a bun, and a distinctive dragon tattoo visible on her back.
Investigation and reward
Despite extensive searches and police investigations, Charlene has not been found. The investigation was upgraded to a murder inquiry in June 2025. A £20,000 reward, offered through the independent charity Crimestoppers, is available for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible. The reward is only for information given exclusively to Crimestoppers, not directly to police.
In a statement, South Wales Police said: "It's two years today since the last sighting of Charlene Hobbs. Charlene, from Cardiff, is a mother, a sister, a daughter, and a friend to many. Like us, they are desperate for answers."
Family concerns and police response
Charlene's family previously criticised the initial police response, saying her disappearance was not treated with sufficient urgency. Her cousin, Dean Hobbs, said she was reported missing three times over a six-week period before a formal investigation was launched. South Wales Police acknowledged the concerns and reviewed its initial response.
Detectives urge anyone with information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to contact South Wales Police or Crimestoppers anonymously. A police spokesperson said: "Even the smallest piece of information, however insignificant it may appear, could prove to be vital."
