A driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries after a road traffic collision on Hollyhedge Road in Wythenshawe this afternoon (Tuesday, August 11), leading to the suspension of Metrolink services to Manchester Airport.
Collision closes road and halts trams
The Bee Network said in a post on X just after 3pm that the Manchester Airport line was suspended between Roundthorn and Robinswood due to a road traffic collision in the area. Traffic data from Google Maps showed a road closure on Hollyhedge Road between the junctions with Moat Road and Broadoak Road.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed they attended the scene of a road traffic collision in the area. A driver was taken to hospital for treatment with what was said to be 'minor' injuries.
Services remain suspended until later in the evening
The line to Manchester Airport between the two stops remains suspended, with the Bee Network saying in an update at 4pm that it would remain closed until 'later in the evening'. Ticket acceptance is in place on a number of bus services in the area, the full list of which can be viewed here.
