A Ryanair flight from Bournemouth to Girona descended into chaos on Thursday after a drunk passenger allegedly attempted to open the emergency door mid-flight. Witnesses reported hearing the man shout, 'I want to go,' before heading towards the door, prompting other passengers to intervene.
A 'huge brawl' broke out as several passengers tried to restrain the man, who reportedly spat and punched others. A seatbelt extender was used to bind his ankles before he was pinned to the floor. The incident lasted around 30 minutes, with blood visible and passengers in tears.
The flight made an emergency landing in Toulouse, France, where police removed the handcuffed man from the plane. The aircraft then continued to Girona, arriving approximately two hours late. Ryanair confirmed the diversion and reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards disruptive behaviour.
