Two buses were damaged after bumping into each other at Piccadilly Gardens bus station on Tuesday evening (August 25). Images from the scene show the front windscreen of a yellow Bee Network bus and the rear window of a former Magic Bus both smashed following the collision.
Shards of glass could be seen on the road, alongside the registration plate of one of the buses which had come off in the incident. Bystanders were seen watching while workers cleared the scene on Tuesday night.
No passengers onboard
Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) confirmed that no passengers were on board either bus at the time of the 'minor collision'. The incident took place at Parker Street.
Alison Chew, bus network director at TfGM, said: “On Tuesday evening (August 25), there was a minor collision involving two buses at Parker Street. There were no passengers onboard either vehicle at the time.
Services returned to normal
Emergency services attended and bus movements within the station were temporarily halted, but services swiftly returned to normal. Safety is a top priority for the Bee Network and we are working with the operator to understand exactly what happened.”
