A Turkish Airlines flight has been forced to make an emergency landing at Manchester Airport. The aircraft, flight THY1GJ, was en route from Istanbul to Toronto but diverted to Manchester, touching down at around 7:30pm after circling over the North Sea.
Fuel dumping and landing
According to flight data, the plane likely had to dump fuel in order to land. Multiple airport fire and rescue vehicles were on standby as it arrived, but the aircraft touched down without incident.
Technical issue resolved
Airport officials confirmed that the technical issue was addressed and all passengers disembarked normally. A spokesperson for Manchester Airport said the aircraft had landed safely and had a technical issue that had since been resolved. Turkish Airlines has been contacted for more information.
