A commuter has compiled a list of public transport etiquette rules after being trapped in an 11-minute snogging and groping session on a packed Tube carriage. The incident took place at 08:57 during morning rush hour, leaving the passenger feeling their day was ruined before 9am.
The couple reportedly kissed intensely, with what the commuter described as tongues, wet mouth sounds, and hands moving under clothes, all while the carriage was at maximum capacity. The passenger, standing in the corner by the doors, said they could smell the couple's breath and feel their movements, calling the proximity "illegally too close."
Unwanted witness to PDA
The commuter said they never consented to witnessing the early-morning display of affection, which lasted the entire journey. They compared the experience to potholing in total darkness, citing panic, lack of control, and a feeling of impending doom, saying the couple made them feel "1000x worse."
The incident prompted the commuter to reflect on other behaviours that should be banned on public transport, leading to a list of "definitely don't do thats."
Commuter etiquette list
The list includes not taking off a backpack when the carriage is rammed, with Daily Star editor Andy saying: "Getting a JanSport in your face on the way to work is not how I want to spend my 6.46am. Take it off, hold it by your side and I'll just deal with your armpit, thanks."
Other entries include rushing inside without letting people exit first, which Daily Star's Ruby said "should be a jail-able offense." Editor Meg shared a story of a man cutting his toenails on the DLR, saying: "He was wearing a suit, apparently."
Further rules cover eating smelly food, with James noting: "Trying to get home and someone's stinking up the carriage with a Maccies." The list also includes playing music or videos out loud, leaving bags on empty seats, not thanking the bus driver, and loud phone conversations, with James adding: "Keep it to yourself."
