Liverpool John Lennon Airport has issued a fresh travel alert for passengers this week, as overnight roadworks continue on the A561 Speke Boulevard and Speke Road junction. The improvement works, running from 8pm to 6am, are causing road closures and signed diversions, potentially adding significant time to journeys to and from the airport.
Roadworks Details and Duration
The works are being carried out by Aureos on behalf of Liverpool City Council as part of the Speke Hall Road resurfacing project. The project aims to enhance the road network, but during overnight periods, the south side of the junction will be affected, with diversions impacting routes to Liverpool John Lennon Airport and the Speke Industrial Estate.
Airport officials have advised passengers travelling during overnight hours to plan ahead and allow extra time. Signed diversion routes are in place via Woolton Road, Hillfoot Avenue, and Woodend Avenue, while local access remains available for residents and deliveries.
Passenger Advisory
According to a statement from the airport, the essential improvement works are expected to be completed as quickly as possible, and officials have thanked motorists for their patience. Passengers are urged to check for updates and factor in potential delays when planning their journeys.
