Around 500 people were evacuated from London Marylebone station on Friday evening after a fire broke out on a train. The fire, believed to have started in an air conditioning unit, was quickly extinguished by firefighters. No injuries were reported.
The incident occurred shortly after 21:00 GMT when a train pulled into platform one. Light smoke was seen on the concourse, prompting the evacuation. Five fire crews from Paddington, Soho, Kensington and Euston fire stations attended the scene.
Chiltern Railways services were temporarily suspended, affecting routes to the Home Counties and West Midlands. Services resumed to normal by the early hours of Saturday.
London Fire Brigade station manager Paul Hobbs said: 'The fire was affecting one of the train's carriages but crews worked quickly to put it out.' An investigation into the cause has been launched.
