A passenger train derailed in Denmark on [date not specified], leaving one person dead and dozens injured. The train, travelling from Sonderborg to Copenhagen, collided with a slurry tanker at a level crossing near Tinglev in Southern Jutland, causing a carriage to topple onto its side.
Emergency services responded with multiple helicopters and ambulances. Police confirmed that one person died, and two were airlifted to hospital. Around 100 people were on board, including schoolchildren from a local school, some of whom were seriously injured.
Journalist Charlotte Sølvsten described the scene: 'They are shaken and covered in mud. Some of them without shoes, some of them were crying. They walked away from the accident with the police in their hands.'
Danish state railway DSB set up a crisis team. Banedanmark, the national rail infrastructure authority, confirmed the collision occurred at a crossing. Police urged the public to avoid the area and said further information would be released via press statements.
