A military helicopter from Fort Rucker crashed near Opp, Alabama, on Monday afternoon, July 28, with three people on board.
Crash Details
The helicopter, reported to be a UH-72 Lakota, crashed in a privately owned field on Cool Springs Road, Covington County Sheriff Blake Turman confirmed. The crew was conducting routine flight training when the aircraft was involved in an aviation mishap.
Injuries and Response
Officials said there were no reports of injuries to anyone on the ground and no reported property damage. An instructor pilot and two student pilots were on board; they were taken to a Dothan hospital for medical evaluation and were in stable condition. Sheriff Turman told WDHN news outlet that he does not believe anyone was injured.
