Tesco Easter 2026 Opening Times: Key Changes and Pay Rise Details

Tesco has announced its opening times for the Easter bank holiday weekend in 2026, with variations across store types and regions. Good Friday falls on April 3, Easter Sunday on April 5, and Easter Monday on April 6.

On Good Friday, most large Tesco stores in England and Wales will open from 6am to 10pm, while stores in Scotland and Northern Ireland will operate normal hours. Most large Tesco Express stores will also open 6am to 10pm, with standard Express stores unchanged.

Easter Sunday sees all large Tesco stores in England and Wales closed due to trading laws. In Scotland, large stores will open from 8am to 10pm. Most large Express stores will also be closed, but standard Express stores remain unaffected.

On Easter Monday, large stores in England and Wales will open from 8am to 6pm, while those in Northern Ireland open 8am to 8pm. Scottish stores trade usual hours. Large Express stores open 8am to 6pm, with standard Express stores unchanged. Shoppers are advised to check local times via the Tesco store locator.

Separately, Tesco announced a 5.1% pay rise for shop workers and online fulfilment staff, effective from March 29, 2026, increasing hourly pay to £13.28. London employees receive an additional £1.27 per hour, bringing the rate to £14.55. The rise exceeds the new national minimum wage of £12.71 for workers over 21.

Ashwin Prasad, Tesco UK chief executive, said the pay deal reflects appreciation for colleagues. Usdaw national officer Daniel Adams highlighted that the increase widens the gap above the living wage and noted Tesco’s commitment to providing paid leave for domestic abuse victims.
