A Ryanair flight from Manchester to Faro was forced to make an emergency landing in France after smoke was detected in the cabin, the airline has confirmed.
The FR4052 flight departed Manchester Airport at 18:30 GMT on Monday but was diverted to Brest, France, due to what Ryanair described as a minor technical issue causing an unidentified smoke smell.
Passengers waited for approximately three hours before a replacement aircraft, flown in from London Stansted, took them on to Faro in the Algarve.
A Ryanair spokesperson said passengers disembarked normally and were taken to a secure area at Brest Airport, where refreshments were provided. Engineers inspected the aircraft and it was later cleared to return to service.
