Ryanair has issued a direct appeal to all plane passengers, urging them to cease packing a particular common item in their hand luggage. This guidance aims to streamline the airport experience and prevent unnecessary delays at security checkpoints.

The airline advises passengers to pay close attention to where certain items are placed, as some should never be carried in hand luggage.
This is not the only travel tip Ryanair has shared recently. Several months ago, the airline also advised caution when booking seats on planes, highlighting a pattern of proactive communication to enhance passenger experience.
Passenger Confusion Over Sharp Items
The issue gained attention on social media platform Reddit, where a traveller questioned: "Are nail scissors and razors really not allowed in carry-on airplane luggage? This seems very inconvenient as these are basic hygienic items. Is this just formally written, or do they really take those away? Is there some trick so I don't have to buy them at my destination?"
The query sparked widespread discussion. One user responded: "Clippers should be fine, scissors are usually a no." Another added: "Nail scissors and razors are fine in most places. Scissors are usually fine depending on blade length, and depending on where you are and who is checking that particular day."
A third commenter noted: "Not allowed in Türkiye. Guy at the walk-through made me toss my manicure scissors in the trash. Keep it in your checked luggage." Many travellers may be unaware of the specific rules regarding scissors. Ryanair outlines clear advice on its website, stating: "The following items must not be carried on board, but may be carried as part of your checked baggage. Objects with a sharp point or sharp edge."
The airline specifies: "Objects with a sharp point or sharp edge capable of being used to cause serious injury, including scissors with blades of more than 6cm, as measured from the fulcrum." It also lists other items prohibited in carry-on luggage.
While scissors are permitted on planes, the blades must be shorter than 6cm to be allowed in hand luggage. Small scissors, such as those used for sewing or embroidery, are generally acceptable, whereas larger, sharper options should be packed in checked baggage.
