Passengers flying with Ryanair, easyJet, British Airways, and Jet2 are being warned against packing hairdryers, towels, and bulky toiletries in their hand luggage, as airlines tighten carry-on policies. Matthew Corrigan, CEO of Trtl Travel, advises travellers to avoid items typically provided by accommodation, such as hairdryers and towels, to save space and avoid extra fees.
With many carriers now allowing only one small cabin bag free of charge, overpacking or including prohibited items can lead to costly charges at the airport. Corrigan recommends sharing phone chargers and other technology, and wearing bulky items like coats and jumpers onto the plane instead of packing them.
Toiletries, especially large liquid containers, can cause problems at security and add weight. Travel-sized alternatives or buying upon arrival are better options. The advice comes as airlines crack down on hand luggage to enforce stricter size and weight limits.
